Elizabeth Smart Special: Meredith Vieira

• At only 14, taken from her own home in the middle of the night
• Remote mountain side camp was where she was kept
• June 4, 2002, Salt lake city, utah
• Large family, faith and felt sheltered
• The sister then woke up while she was being taken
• Went up the mountain and tried reasoning with her captor
• He performed a marriage ceremony , then she soon realized what was about to come
• She was then chained to trees, raped everyday, starved, deprived of water, forced her to drink and do drugs
• Her captor was determined to go and take her cousin
• July 24, he was intending to go and kidnap her cousin
• One day he suddenly decided to unchain her and then take her down to the city for food and alcohol
• Months passed and still no one realized where they were
• One day her captors decided to take her to the library and figure out their next location to live as winter was coming
• Soon the male captor had left the females without food and water and was fearing death was approaching
• She then started to manipulate Mitchell to move back to Utah
• March 12, 2003, they arrived back in Utah
• One day at walmart, a women had identified her captor, and police soon identified that it was indeed Elizabeth Smart
